EQMadeIt Talks Linking Up With D Savage, How He Got His Producer Tag And More!

We got the opportunity to connect with producer, EQMadeIt. He's had the chance to work with artists like: D Savage, Lil Tracy, M.D.M.A, UnoTheActivist, and more! Check out my personal favorite song he produced "Gelato" by D Savage.
Where are you from and what age did you first make a connection to producing music? And how long have you been producing music?
I am from Tampa Bay Florida and I started producing when I was 14 and have been producing around 2 and a half years.
What's your producer tag? How did you create it? What's the importance of having a producer tag?
I bought my tag from this website called Chelsea voice tags. I actually don't really like my tag and I've had multiple artists say they'd make a tag for me but they never came through so I'm stuck with my current tag that says, "Eq made this one bitch." I also have a tag of D Savage saying my name but I don't use it often. But a producer tag is very important, it helps to create an image for a producer and it's what anyone listening to a song will know you by.
What's your scene? Would you rather be at the crib cooking up beats solo? Or be in the studio collaborating with other producers?
I've never had the experience of being with other producers in person to cook up beats so I'm always at home in my room just making beats. I think it would be more beneficial to me if I could link with producers in studios because you can get a lot more work done that way and you can have people there to hop on a beat if you can't finish it and you can build much better relationships that way.
What was going on in your life when you made your first beat? Was being a producer always your goal?
You've worked D Savage quite a bit how/when did you first link up with him?
I got my first song with D Savage spring break of 2018 in my freshman year of high school. The song was called Gelato and dropped like 2 months later and savage and his team hit me up and we've just been working since then and I've been sending him beat packs and communicating with him through email and twitter.
Can you run us through the process of making the "Gelato" beat? How did D Savage end up hopping on it?
It was spring break and I was home alone in the middle of the day just making beats and I went back to an old project that I didn't finish and took the chords from that and added some backup melodies and drums and finished the beat in only like 25 minutes. I sent the beat to a few artists and no one was using so a few days later I sent it to Savage and then went to sleep and when I woke up he had a snippet of the song on his story.
Can you run us through making the "Lay Low Pt. 2" beat? How did D Savage end up hopping on it?
I made the Lay Low pt 2 beat in December 2018. It was a sample that I found in one of my packs that I sped up and pitched down a little and added a background pad and some simple drums. I sent the beat to savage in like February and I didn't know he used until one day when I was getting ready for school and checked Instagram and saw the snippet of him in the car bumping the song.
How/when did you first end up liking with Lil Tracy? Can you run us through the process of making the "ALONE IN MY CASTLE" beat? How did Tracy end up hopping on it?
I started liking Tracy's music mid-2017 after I started producing and have been listening to him ever since. I made the beat for Alone in My Castle in October of 2018 when my bro Nadir sent me the guitar loop and I added some more melodies and some drums and sent to Tracy. It actually took me and Nadir a while to reach Tracy but we kept trying until we were finally able to get him on it in January 2019. Me and Nadir were so happy to finally get him on the beat. Shout out to Nadir, one of the most underrated and best producers I know.
Any advice to all the producers out there trying to establish a name for themselves and build credits?
Work on building a good image of yourself, always be humble and be friendly. Have fun with making beats and don't just focus on the money or placements.
What's on the horizon for your music career in 2019?
Lots of songs coming with artists such as D Savage, Lil Tracy, Nebu Kiniza, UnoTheActivist, Rvmbo Kash, Yung Neff and all my bros in Neilaworld.
